Forum on the Future of San Nicolas

The Forum on the Future of San Nicolas brings together community voices, research findings, and forward-looking ideas to explore the long-term social, cultural, and economic development of San Nicolas.

Inspired by a nation-building approach that connects economic prosperity with social inclusion, cultural identity, effective governance, and long-term strategic planning, the forum creates an important space to discuss what the future architecture of San Nicolas could look like. Nation building, as described by Suzette Dumfries, involves bringing together political, legal, social, economic, infrastructural, and cultural dimensions to support sustainable development, cohesion, and unity.

Taking place from 11 to 13 August 2026, the forum provides an opportunity to reflect on research findings, exchange perspectives, and consider how San Nicolas can move toward a stronger, more inclusive and sustainable future.

For SC3, conversations such as these are particularly relevant because meaningful community transformation should not only be about developing a place, but also about ensuring that the people who live there have a voice in shaping its future.
