SC3 recognizes that meaningful and sustainable community transformation cannot be achieved by focusing on a single area of society.
Our work is guided by seven interconnected spheres of influence that shape the social, economic and cultural life of San Nicolas.
Through these spheres, SC3 seeks to Cultivate Opportunities and Connections to Nourish, Uplift, and Transform San Nicolas, COCONUTS, while advancing our vision of a thriving, empowered and increasingly self reliant community.
ECONOMY & BUSINESS
SC3 works to strengthen the economic foundation of San Nicolas by supporting entrepreneurship, financial literacy, local business development and greater economic self sufficiency. Through education, connections and opportunities, we aim to help residents, entrepreneurs, vendors and creatives develop the skills and resources needed to grow while encouraging economic activity that keeps value circulating within San Nicolas. Initiatives such as financial education workshops, Taxes 101, Taxes for Sole Proprietors and youth entrepreneurship reflect our commitment to building a stronger local economy.
SOCIETY & FAMILY
Strong communities are built around people, families and a shared responsibility for one another. Through Society & Family, SC3 promotes community wellbeing, inclusion, volunteerism, intergenerational connection and support for residents who may otherwise be overlooked or underserved. Through community activities and projects such as the San Nicolas Clean Up Day and SABA Sunrise Garden, we aim to strengthen relationships, community pride and the sense of belonging that helps make San Nicolas resilient.
CULTURE, ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT
San Nicolas has a rich cultural identity, history and creative spirit that are essential to its future. SC3 uses culture, arts and entertainment as tools for community pride, connection, expression and economic opportunity. We seek to celebrate and preserve the cultural heritage of San Nicolas while creating opportunities for artists, performers, culinary entrepreneurs, creatives and cultural practitioners. As San Nicolas continues to evolve, its people, traditions, stories, food, music, art and creativity should remain visible, protected and valued.
IDEOLOGY, RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY
San Nicolas is home to people with different beliefs, traditions, backgrounds and perspectives. SC3 recognizes the important role that values, faith communities, personal beliefs and shared principles can play in strengthening individuals and communities. Through inclusivity, respect and dialogue, we encourage collaboration across differences while promoting shared values such as service, integrity, compassion, accountability, unity and respect for others.
EDUCATION
Education is central to empowerment and self sufficiency. SC3 believes learning extends beyond the traditional classroom and includes practical knowledge, life skills, sustainability, civic awareness and the transfer of knowledge between generations. Through workshops, partnerships and community based learning opportunities, we aim to provide residents with knowledge, tools and skills that can improve individual opportunities while strengthening the collective capacity of San Nicolas.
GOVERNANCE
SC3 believes residents should understand that they have both a voice and a role in shaping the future of their community. The Governance sphere promotes civic awareness, informed participation, accountability, dialogue and constructive engagement with the institutions and decisions that affect San Nicolas. Through initiatives such as At the Table, The San Nicolas Vote, SC3 creates opportunities for informed discussion while encouraging residents to become active participants in community affairs. Our goal is to strengthen collaboration between residents, community organizations, government and other stakeholders.
COMMUNICATION & MEDIA
Communication connects all seven spheres and plays an essential role in building an informed, engaged and connected community. SC3 uses communication and media to share information, amplify community voices, promote opportunities, celebrate positive developments and tell the story of San Nicolas from within the community itself. Through digital platforms, traditional media, storytelling, campaigns and community engagement, we aim to keep residents informed, encourage participation, strengthen the visibility of San Nicolas and build a narrative centered on its people, potential, cultural identity and future.
